How much weight for different pushups?

by Admin

in Discussion

Here’s a question that’s always nagged at me. During a pushup, how much of your actual body weight resistance are you using?
The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research has come up with some estimations. These are approximately accurate plus or minus a few pounds.

PUSHUP TYPE
Standard 65%
Kneeups 50%
Feet on 12″ Box 70%
Feet on 24″ Box 75%
Hands on 12″ Box 55%
Hands on 24″ Box 40%
