Although very famous and seemingly effective, the Atkins diet relies on eating just too much fatty food for our tastes. Some people do very well on this diet but we do not take a dogmatic view of these things and we will tweak this or any other diet to suit our purposes.

Low carb type dieting is the most effective way to lose gobs of fat while also protecting the muscle tone you’re building up in the gym or at home doing P90X type workouts. Muscle is extremely important to your overall health. When you go on an extreme diet, you risk losing some or a lot of it as the body looks for calories to fuel your activities. When you restrict you carbs to below 75-100 or lower, in our experience, the body will burn fat at an unprecedented rate and like it. But you want to watch the TYPE of fats you eat in your high protein meals. Switching to olive oil and Smart Balance butter spread is absolutely mandatory.

The basic idea, if you are very overweight, is to severely restrict calories AND carbs for 3 to 5 days at a time. Then eat normally for ONE day. Then go right back to your chosen diet regime. Walking is a must starting TODAY. What a lot of people do not realize is when an overweight person exercises, it’s like they are carrying all the extra weight on their backs. It’s much like a person of normal weight, carrying around 50-100 pounds of iron plates all day, everywhere he goes. For this reason, when you are obese, walking is much more taxing than it is for a person of normal weight.

Later, when you’ve shed some of the extra weight, it will be easier for you to step up your exercise activities. Walk faster, start actually jogging! A little at the time for you who are very overweight. You will be blown away at where you are 90 days from the day you started. The more fat you shed, the more likely you are to want to get outside and do more.

You MUST use strength training of some kind as soon as possible.

Authors of a new study in the Journal of American medical Association will publish a new link on June 16, to a lower risk of lung cancer.

The authors conclusion was that high levels of vitamin B6 and the amino acid methionine and folate, another B. vitamin, are associated with a lower incidence of lung cancer due to a possible protective effect of these compounds.

Another recent study has shown a similar protective effect of vitamin B6, against colorectal cancer. The best sources for vitamin B6 are animal proteins. Tunafish, turkey, beef, and halibut.

Although researchers are not sure whether vitamin supplements will give the same protection as food sources having high concentrations of these compounds seems beneficial.

Weight training diaries are great tools to keep track of a training regime. They are used to record progress, routine and repetitions. These weight training journals are often the foundation of a good solid training program. They can be as simple as pad and pen or can be books bought that have spaces for entries, suggested routines and other helpful advice. Many gyms now have equipment that will keep track of sets, weights and reps with individual I.D.. But training isn’t just about the active exercise. Whether building for strength or size, keeping track of the other factors of training can be equally revealing. That is the reason keeping weight training diaries can be so helpful.

As with any plan, the best first step is to establish objectives. Is the program designed for cardio improvement, weight loss, joint and body mobility, strength, or some other end? Determining the specific objective will help in setting clear gauges to measure progress. The easy measurements are pounds lost, how much is lifted, heart rate, and flexibility. There are other, subtler indicators as well; sleeping patterns, energy levels, stamina, mood, concentration and complexion, to name just a few. Well stated objectives and a sense of the milestones are the beginnings of a decent program.

Regularly forgotten are other factors that go into good health and promote fitness. Keeping track of sleep can be a eye-opening experience when noting accomplishments in the gym and tracking the correlation. Resting between sets, sprints, and stretching aids in working out. The body needs mending time. Yet many gym rats will know to rest between sets, but forget to go to bed In our 24/7 culture, something as basic as sleep often slips on the priority list. Placing awareness on rest is often an insightful exercise that can correlate with measurable results in the gym. It can also be seen in less tangible ways; folks greeting you instead of hiding in their cubicle.

One of the crucial elements of exercise is food consumption. What, when and quantity of what you eat are some of the important factors to monitor. The body requires fuel to burn. Carbohydrates, such as bread, vegetables, fruit and cereal, are established fuel sources for physical expenditures. Large food intake need a couple hours to absorb prior to exercising. Monitoring food and its effect on exercise is a very important process. Folks react differently to various foods, and becoming aware of that can be a key advancement in any routine. Food consumption after a workout is just as important. Here is where the heavier proteins should be eaten, which is especially important for women.

Keeping track of goals, sleep and diet are important aspects of any health program. More benefits have come from simple awareness then any rigid exercise regime and a solid training journal is worth it’s weight in gold.

Dan Duchaine was an innovator in the fitness and diet industry, and even though we were not aware of his work before starting this site, our subsequent research has shown that he was truly a thinking man. And that he would have been more than welcome here.

He seems to have valued thinking “out of the box” and telling the truth, no matter what and we admire that in anyone.

The main theme here at Dirty Dieting.com is that we will not misrepresent a topic just because it’s “for your own good”, nor will we promote a product that is not up to standards just to make a profit. Even though we here at Dirty Dieting .com do not condone going as far to the hardcore dieting as Dan apparently did, using such compounds as DNP and others, we do agree with his philosophy that sometimes extreme problems merit extreme solutions. But safety comes first. It’s not worth it to be a tanned and shredded corpse lying in your coffin.

Other than similar philosophies , this web site has no connection to Dan Duchaine or any business or publication he or his estate is involved in or privy to.

Sincerely,

The Dirty Dieting Team
